# Dr. Hitaishi V > I'm a physicist. Most of my days go into coaxing light through chalcogenide waveguides: engineering dispersion, generating supercontinua, and occasionally breaking things in FDTD simulations so they don't break in the lab. My Ph.D. at VIT-AP University was on mid-infrared supercontinuum generation and photonic device design. These days I am also working with physics-informed machine learning (PINNs) and inverse design for structured light in fiber systems. This is the personal site of a physicist. Posts are either general notes (Markdown) or equation-dense write-ups (Typst). Every post is also available as raw Markdown at the same URL with a `.md` suffix, e.g. https://hitaishiv.com/blog/imli-nvim-release.md — prefer those for quoting, since they carry the prose and equations without navigation chrome. ## Person - Full name: Dr. Hitaishi V - Role: Ph.D. in Physics, Nonlinear Optics & Photonics - Location: Karnataka, India - Email: hello@hitaishiv.com - Website: https://hitaishiv.com - Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=3gV4-jIAAAAJ&hl=en - GitHub: https://github.com/hitaishi2222 - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hitaishi-v A machine-readable summary of the same facts: https://hitaishiv.com/about.md ## Research areas - **Supercontinuum Generation** — Mid-IR & broadband SC in chalcogenide waveguides at 4 μm and 6 μm. - **Waveguide Design** — Split-core, inverted rib-core, D-shaped and slot architectures. - **Optical Sensing** — Tamm-Fano resonance sensors for glucose & refractive-index sensing. - **Physics-Informed ML** — PINN-based inverse design for structured light in fiber systems. - **Structured Light** — OAM, Laguerre-Gaussian modes, multimode & few-mode fiber optics. - **Quantum Photonics** — High-dimensional quantum information and fiber-based quantum networks. ## Pages - [Home](https://hitaishiv.com/): overview and research focus. - [Research](https://hitaishiv.com/research/): detailed research background. - [CV](https://hitaishiv.com/cv/): publication list and full academic history. - [Projects](https://hitaishiv.com/projects/): open-source software and tools. - [Blog index](https://hitaishiv.com/blog/): all 4 posts, newest first. - [Contact](https://hitaishiv.com/contact/): how to get in touch. ## Optional - [RSS feed](https://hitaishiv.com/rss.xml): new posts as they appear. - [Sitemap](https://hitaishiv.com/sitemap-index.xml): every URL on the site. - [Full text](https://hitaishiv.com/llms-full.txt): every post concatenated as plain Markdown. ## Posts - [imli.nvim: A Warm Colorscheme for Neovim](https://hitaishiv.com/blog/imli-nvim-release/) (2026-10-07) — neovim, lua, open source, colorscheme - [Hello Typst: Math-Heavy Posts, Natively](https://hitaishiv.com/blog/hello-typst/) (2025-08-20) — typst, meta, math - [Is AI gonna replace you?](https://hitaishiv.com/blog/ai-gonna-replace-you/) (2024-08-01) — ai, career, workflow - [Self-Hosting](https://hitaishiv.com/blog/self-hosting/) (2024-06-01) — linux, self-hosting, open source ## Projects - **photonics_helper** — A comprehensive Python helper library for photonics and optics: GNLSE solvers, soliton dynamics, Raman modeling, structured light, and FEM mode import.
